NM (Near Mint)

Presque parfait. Un disque "NM" n?a très probablement jamais été lu et ne présentera aucun défaut à la lecture. Bon nombre de vendeurs refusent de donner un grade plus élevé que celui-ci, car ils partent du principe (peut-être à raison) qu'aucun disque n'est jamais parfait. Le disque ne doit montrer aucun signe évident d'usure. Une pochette de 45 tours ou d?EP ne devrait pas avoir plus que des défauts minimes, comme de légers signes de manipulation. Une pochette de LP ne doit pas être cornée, pliée, déchirée, trouée, ni présenter aucun autre défaut similaire visible. Cela vaut également pour tous les encarts, tels que les posters, les livrets de paroles, etc.

VG+,VG++,VG+++ (Very Good Plus)

Un disque "VG+" montre qu'il a déjà été lu, mais que son précédent propriétaire en a pris soin. Les défauts sont généralement superficiels et n'affectent pas ou peut la qualité de lecture. La surface du disque peut présenter quelques signes d'usure et peut comporter de (très) légères éraflures qui n?affectent nullement ou presque la lecture. Le label peut avoir quelques anneaux d'usure ou une décoloration, mais cela doit à peine se remarquer. Des marques au niveau du centre du label peuvent être présentes. Les pochettes et sous-pochettes présentent une légère usure, des coins légèrement cornés, un petit trou, une échancrure ou une légère déchirure sur la tranche

VG/VG- (Very Good)

La plupart des défauts trouvés sur un disque "VG+"  seront plus prononcés sur un disque "VG/VG-". Le bruit de fond est évident à la lecture, en particulier durant les passages calmes, de même que durant l?intro et la fin des pistes, mais il ne dominera pas la musique pour autant. L?usure du sillon commence à être audible et de légères (VG) ou moyenne (VG-) rayures (suffisamment profondes pour être senties avec le doigt) affectent le son. Les labels peuvent être entachés par des annotations, du scotch ou des autocollants (ou des résidus). Cela vaut également pour les pochettes. Cependant, l?article ne comporte pas tous ces défauts en même temps.

G/G+ - Good Plus

Un disque "G/G+" peut être lu en entier sans sauter. Il présente toutefois un bruit de fond important, des rayures marquées et une usure visible du sillon. Les pochettes ou sous-pochettes ont des tranches déchirées. On retrouve également du scotch, des annotations, des traces en forme de cercle ou d?autres défauts du même acabit. Bien que le disque ne saute pas, un bruit de fond considérable et des crépitements accompagneront certainement la lecture.

  • WDS Water Damage Sleeve- There is moisture damage on the sleeve.
  • LBE : Light Bending Edge - Legere courbure le bord
  • NOC : No Original Center - Le centreur d'origine est absente. (UK Press)
  • OC : Off Center - Le disque a un souci de centrage qui peut affecter la lecture.
  • SOL : Sticker On Label - Il y a un autocollant sur l'étiquette.
  • SOS : Sticker On Sleeve - Il y a un autocollant sur la pochette.
